How federal officials talk about health is shifting in troubling ways – and that change makes me worried for my autistic child

This article explains why people with disabilities and their advocates are alarmed by the echoes of eugenics in MAHA rhetoric. I discuss Uhlrich Beck’s idea of the individualization of risk and predict that Trump and RFK Jr.’s ways of speaking about autism are opening the door to drastic cuts in federal funding for necessary services for people with disabilities.
