Conferences
RSA conferences, offered every other year, provide an opportunity for rhetoric scholars to gather to continue past discussions and spark new ones. Conferences are our time to highlight the power of rhetoric and show that a public-facing mission for rhetorical studies might just change the world. Join us for presentations and discussions that will run the gamut and prove that it’s never “just rhetoric.”

RSA Conference 2026
May 21–24, 2026, Portland, OR
In 2026, our theme will be “Rhetorical In/Dignities,” asking what it might mean to locate the histories and futures of rhetorical studies through in/dignities. For many of us the promise of rhetoric lies in the persistent vulnerabilities, contradictions, and contingencies of discourse. These entanglements—of dignities with indignities—amplify the need for rhetorical conversations, theories, and debates.
