Call for award nominations: dissertation award nominations due by january 24 – fellows’ early career award nominations due by january 31

It is my pleasure to announce that nominations for the 2024 Rhetoric Society of America Awards are now open.  You can submit nominations here.

When we meet in Denver Colorado for our 2024 convention this May, we will recognize the winners of the following awards:

  • The 2024 Book Award, which honors books published between August 1, 2022 and July 31, 2023. The deadline for Book Award Submissions has passed.
  • The 2024 Dissertation Award, which honors dissertations defended during the 2023 calendar year. Nominations are due by January 24, 2024.
  • The 2024 Fellows’ Early Career Award ,which celebrates a member of the Society who has made significant professional strides and contributions to the Society within their first eight years in the professoriate. Nominations are due January 31, 2024.
  • The 2024 Fellows Award and Yoos Award. The RSA Fellows Award recognizes an exemplary member of the Society whose scholarship, teaching, and service have propelled the Society forward. The George E. Yoos Distinguished Service Award is a distinguished service honor for an RSA member who has undertaken significant labor and or leadership on behalf of the Society. Recipients of the Yoos Award automatically become RSA Fellows. Nominations for both awards are due on March 1, 2024.
  • The 2024 Cheryl Geisler Award for Outstanding Mentor, which celebrates exceptional mentoring of students and or junior colleagues. Nominations are due on March 1, 2024.
  • The 2024 Outstanding Student Chapter Award, which recognizes a dynamic student chapter who has helped to raise the visibility of RSA. Nominations are due by April 4, 2024.
  • The Charles Kneupper Award, which recognizes the best article published in Rhetoric Society Quarterly in 2023. Every article published in 2023 will be automatically considered.
  • The Gerard A. Hauser Award, which celebrates distinguished student conference papers accepted to RSA 2024. The deadline for submissions has passed.

RSA is also accepting nominations for the Graduate Student Special Event Award which provides support funding for rhetoric-related events. Funding requests are due by February 1, 2024. Apply here!
