RSA Summer Institute 2025 – Call for Applications Open Now Through October 15

August 8, 2024

Come to the 2025 RSA Summer Institute!

The rhetoric faculty and graduate students at the University of Cincinnati invite you to participate in the 11th Biennial RSA Summer Institute. This year, the University of Cincinnati will host 10 in-person seminars from Monday, June 2, to Thursday, June 5. New to the Institute for 2025, RSA will present a series of virtual-only workshops throughout the month of June. Additional information about the workshops’ content and format will be coming soon; they will form a program separate from the seminars. The seminars promise exciting intellectual opportunities for graduate students and faculty, and many opportunities for networking.

Seminar leaders will explore a range of issues and stimulate the thinking of participants in deep, innovative, and provocative ways. Seminars will invite conversations about rhetoric and citizenship (Cintrón and Bennett), public scholarship (Mercieca and Skinnell), justice and social action (Chávez and Kynard), work and labor (Pason and Kahn), rhetoric without nation-states (Cisneros, Jackson, and Olson), science in a post-truth world (Ceccarelli and Jones), environmental rhetoric (Barnett and Sackey), digital rhetorics (Boyle and Peres), rhetorical methodology (Scott and Lechuga), and queer rhetorics (Morris and McCune).

To participate in a seminar, please apply via the Oxford Abstracts application portal by October 15, 2024. You can list first, second, and third preferences. Acceptance notices will be sent out around December 2, 2024. Lodging options also will be posted by December 2, 2024. Graduate students accepted will have an opportunity to apply for financial support. All participants must reserve their space by paying registration fees by April 15, 2025.
